Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada

Our day at Iberostar was exactly what we wanted in an all-inclusive resort.  We booked this in advance because our cruise included one full day in port at Puerto Plata.  Rather than book an expensive activity excursion, we hired a taxi to show us the main attractions downtown and then drop us off here to luxuriate for the remainder of the day.  We spent equal time between the pool, open-air buffet restaurant, and the beach.  It's hard to describe the lightness of ordering drinks at the swim-up bar and not paying for them.  Then walking 30 feet to the giant buffet to fill your plate as many times as you want with hot fare and tropical fruit, then claiming one of the many palapas and snorkeling off a georgeous tropical beach.  All without opening our wallet.  The cheerful staff was super friendly and made everything easy for us.  We scored here.

Generous food and amenities

The resort is old looking. The service is amazing. OMG best homemade food ever.  Wish they had a cleaner pool and the ocean was blue like other Caribbean islands. But I would go again.

Spent the day here as we were on the cruise ship, lots of seaweed and could not get in the water.  The pool was decent, no named brand alcohol.

Overrated 

Iberostar Costa Dorado is lovely with great vibes!
I was an overnight guest with a room at the Iberostar Costa Dorada, but wanted to buy 7 Daypasses as gifts for my local family to join us for the day.  Unfortunately the resportpass.com system doesn't allow you to manage the guest list so that the account holder is not one of the actual guests.  I read all the fine print and then followed up by emailing customer service with the updated guest list before traveling.  In my first response from customer service, it was obvious they didn't read my email because they just sent me back to the manage guest list system that couldn't accommodate my needs. After my  second email to customer service, they didn't respond until 2-3 hours after my check in time.
The Iberostar employees at first could not check in our guests due to the guest list being incorrect  One clever employee suggested I change my name in my resortpass account to my cousin's name and that finally worked.

Difficult to Gift Daypasses!

Simply Splendid

This resort is very outdated and honestly not a nice resort. The ponds and water features on the property had greenish/brown water and were filled with debris. The cushions on all the sitting areas in the lobby were quite old and many had stains on them. The staff wasn't welcoming or overly friendly and if you go to the beach there is a constant barrage of locals asking you to buy something. Our group was very disappointed with our experience and would not recommend this resort. 

Outdated and Dirty

I booked a poolside cabana which included a day pass for two. Upon arrival we waited 30 minutes for check in. When I asked about my cabana I was told to inquire at the towel stand. The attendant at the towel stand could not find my reservation so we then waited another 30 minutes only to be offered a lounge chair inside the spa. I explained a chair inside the spa was not what I reserved. My spouse at this time found two loungers in the shade so we lounged in the shade for our remaining two hours left. Upon trying to contact ResortPass I was left with no recourse because online chat was not available. With no direct phone number to reach a representative we sent multiple emails only to receive standard replies of Resort pass would reply in two to three business days. No help resolving the issue while we were at the resort! We are still waiting on a reply. We are owed a refund for the resorts failure to honor our reservation. Still no reply to rectify the situation from Resort Pass.
